Community

The majority of our sites are in rural settings or small towns, where Dairy Crest is often one of the largest local employers. We recognise that the company has a valuable role to play in the life of the local community.

Our household business plays an important role at the heart of the local community. We deliver over 500 million bottles of milk from 180 depots in southern England and Wales to 1.6 million households every year, as well as a range of other products including staples such as bread, eggs, fruit and vegetables and juices.

Dairy Crest staff raised an unprecedented £1m for its previous charity partner, Leukaemia Research, the UK?s leading blood cancer charity.

In May 2007 we were delighted to announce the Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK as our new charity partner. Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK grants wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses. Since being established in the UK in 1986, Make-A-Wish has granted over 4,200 wishes. The average cost of each wish is £3,000 so they need as much help as possible to raise the necessary funds.

At a most desperate and tragic time in the life of a child suffering a terminal illness, Make-A-Wish steps in and provides positive and uplifting relief and we look forward to being part of this noble and deserving enterprise.

Dairy Crest also operates a lottery through its staff charity society, The Dairy Crest Charity Fund. This is a society lottery which is operated under license from Elmbridge Local Authority and is open to all Dairy Crest employees. Funds from the lottery are donated monthly to the company?s charities. Dairy Crest is a member of the Lotteries Council.
