We have introduced a talent scheme that helps us identify staff who have the potential to do a bigger or different job. We give these people a range of support including mentoring from senior colleagues.
As well as developing our leaders of tomorrow we recognise the importance of continuing to develop our leaders of today. To help us achieve this we run 'value leadership courses' for our top managers.
Reward and recognition scheme
Being valued and recognised at work is important. To improve in this area we launched a brand new reward and recognition scheme in January 2009, which gives staff the opportunity to nominate colleagues for an award.
In the first year of its introduction 392 staff received a bronze award and 13 staff received a silver award. The three gold award winners were chosen from these 13 silver award winners. As well as celebrating individual achievements we also introduced a team of the year award.
Diversity
We are committed to working with staff to achieve excellence through diversity and inclusion. The company has a wide range of proactive diversity and inclusion actions underway that focuses on promoting the benefits of a diverse workforce for all. To help us achieve our aims we have created a diversity steering group that's drawn from across the business and from as wide a background as possible.
